Armistice commemorations
November 11, 2010
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the unveiling of the cenotaph in London, the UK's national war memorial. It is also 90 years since the burial of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey, a commemoration since observed in other countries, including the United States (1921), Australia (1993), and Canada (2000).
The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography has more on the story of the British Unknown Warrior and others who shaped the 1914-18 war and its aftermath.
