History of English in the Oxford DNB

January 6, 2011

Richard Hogg (1944-2007), the eminent historian of the English language, is one of 216 men and women (all of whom died in 2007) included in the latest update of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. Other wordsmiths from the new update include Magnus Magnusson, Bill Deedes, and George Melly—all available in the ODNB's free highlights gallery.
