Revision of the entries in the March 2005 OED Online update has revealed an earlier origin than previously known for many words, including:

• ovine (antedated to 1676 from 1828)
• ovoid (1776 from 1828)
• ovum (1672 from 1706)
• own goal (1922 from 1947)
• oxymoronic (1952 from 1970)
• pace-setting (1926 from 1965)
• paediatric (1850 from 1880)
• pagination (1794 from 1841)
• painfully (c1440 from 1533)
• pampering (c1430 from 1526)
• paperback (1843 from 1899)
