Searching pronunciations

Aim: to find words that rhyme with stretch

1. Open the Advanced search page by clicking .

2. Make sure the entries tab is selected.

   

3. Make sure pronunciations is selected from the first list box.

4. Check the Key to the pronunciation to find out the keyboard equivalent for each symbol.

   For example, the symbol has E as its keyboard equivalent, and therefore E must be entered as part of the search term.

5. Type *EtS into the first input box.

6. Click to start the search.

7. The results list is displayed. The entries matched include etch, fetch, sketch, etc.

8. To go to the top of any entry, click its name (in the left-hand column). To go to the first match in any entry, click the matching term (in the right-hand column).
